Olaine Cup Tournament 2016 held throughout April. During four weekends of April despite the weather conditions ( it was snowing at the beginning of the tournament, then the sun was shining, then it was raining and very windy), young football players of six age categories U-9,  U-10, U-11, U-12, U-13 and WU-13 went on the field to identify the strongest teams of the tournament. Their own skills tried to show the 40 teams and 500 football talents from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Belarus.
The aims of the tournament were the popularization of football, the opportunity for young football players to get a good practice with strong opponents and the organization of the football festival both for the participants of tournament and for the fans.

Homepage of the tournament was very popular and attracted attention from around the world. Page visited by users from 23 countries of Europe, North America, Africa and Asia.

According to the author of idea of the tournament, the sports director of the AFA Olaine, Alexey Gromov, children's football competitions of this magnitude in the town of Olaine were held for the first time and we can say with certainty that they were successful. Kind of this tournament is necessary in the future and should be developed for sports. Exactly at these tournaments are clearly visible progress and development of the children’s skills.

WU-13 awards

Today in Olaine stadium competed U-13 age groups of girls. This was the last games of our tournament OLAINE CUP 2016. The tournament was attended 8 girls teams of the Latvia and Estonia. After the group matches of the tournament semi-finals was AFA OLAINE, FS METTA/OSC, SK SURRE-JAANI UNITED and FK IECAVA team.
SK SUURE-JAANI UNITED team from Estonia became the first team which took the champion cup outside the Latvia border.

U-9 and U-11 awards

Another planed competitions of Olaine Cup tournament have been held at the trird weekend of April.  Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian footballers competed, born in 2005 and 2007.
There was very tense fight for prize winning places in U-9 age group. Three teams have finished the tournament undefeated and the winner (SK Kengaroos) was determined by difference of scored and missing goals.
The unbeatable team which won all the games in U-11 age group was SK Supernova-1. The winners of second and third places were determined only after last game of the tournament of this week.

For the first time in the history Olaine Cup tournament, winners were the hosts of the tournament.

Sunday morning, for the final games of the tournament, came on the field players born in 2006. Many of the games are rich in intrigue and unpredictability. All the players are very much tried to show their best game.
